Winterizing the irrigation

Today we are blowing out/winterizing the irrigation system.  We get most of the water out of the lines with the manual quick couplers, as shown below. We will then go through each zone to finish. Tomorrow morning we will blow out the well lines. Typically it will take us about 1.5-2 days to do the system and well lines.
Golf course is still open, come out and play!!

First snow/ Weekend looks good

Here it is, the first measurable snowfall of the year. Nice picture for a Post card, no so good for Fall golf.
The weekend weather looks good come out and enjoy your golf course.

Fall

The photo below shows some I the new spruce trees we planted on the west side of the driving range. We are losing many of the popular trees in the area, the new trees should help keep that buffer zone between the driving range and hole 9.

The course is still open for play!!  We will keep the golf course open as long as Mother Nature allows, exact date to be determined.

If you have any comments please feel free to email or text me

Enjoy the rest of the Fall!!

Collars and aprons

Today we are aerating collars and aprons on the front nine. After aerating we will top dress the aprons with sand. This will help control thatch and help keep these areas more playable.
As you may have noticed we have started to raise some of the heights of cut.  This is normal for this time if year. Raising the height if cut allows the grass plant to store up more nutrients and energy going into the tough winter season.
Enjoy the Fall Season.

Venting Fairways

We are in the process of venting the fairways. The tine we are using is of the slicing style that goes to a depth of about 5". We will do 3-4 holes each day until done.
This process wil provide compaction relief and very minimal disruption to the playability.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
